You know that sensation of experiencing something in your present that whips you right back to the past?
Like how the smell of Pond’s cold cream transports me to my grandma’s California bedroom, with a glamorous powder blue bed set, her tiny glass bottles of perfume, and a special chair-pillow I snuggled into as we watched The Wizard of Oz for the eighth time.
Or, you know, like how the taste of parmesan reminds me of the worst food poisoning of my life. So bad, I barfed on the side of the 110. So bad, I almost pooped my pants, lifting my best friend during the hora dance at her wedding. So bad, even thinking about parmesan sends a warning shiver down my spine.
Well, I would like to celebrate that sensation!
So, for the rest of September, I’m going to be writing about ~associations~. Yes, ladies and gentlethems, WE HAVE A THEME.
*angels singing*
My hope is that taking the time to notice how my senses connect to my memories and train of thought can help me be more present and appreciative of … literally everything. I really believe that if we take the time to observe the world around us, we can find joy anywhere. Ok, well, if not joy, then at least a little something that makes us say, “huh!”
If you want to join me in this ~theme~ I’d love to hear what you notice. If you don’t want to leave a comment, you can always respond to my emails and it should come right to my inbox.
Ok love you bye!
THEME!
other exciting things:
✨ There are still spots open in my Italian retreat, Eat, Write, Love in April 2024. If you’re feeling like, “lol but I have no money,” check out the payment plans. Lodging, tours, and lots of food is included, and we’re going to be combining exploring with creativity. Fill your sketchbook or travel journal, work on your photography, and enjoy the company of other lovely humans. Bring a friend, or make some on the trip!
✨ You and everyone you know can pre-order my upcoming book F*cking Deal with It! It’s part comedy, part therapy, part original illustrations by yours truly.
ok, seriously, thank you for being here.
